Why the AC numbers look low at home

The 500e is rated at 11kW, but that is its three-phase figure. Its onboard charger only accepts 6.6kW on single-phase — which is what UK homes have — so it can't reach even the ~7.4kW a home charger offers. The car is the bottleneck here, not the wall, and fitting a bigger home charger won't change it. Unusually, this is a case where a three-phase supply genuinely would help, taking the 500e up to its full 11kW. You'll also see that on 11kW and 22kW public posts.

None of this affects rapid charging: DC bypasses the onboard charger entirely, which is why the 85kW figure above is unaffected.

Charging curve

Maximum power the 500e accepts at each state of charge. The curve drops sharply above 80%, which is why most rapid-charging sessions end there.

About this battery

The Fiat 500e's charging behaviour above is derived from its cell chemistry and pack architecture using our own model — not copied from a third-party test database. Here's what's inside the pack and why it produces the curve you see.

Pre-2024 Fiat 500e units use CATL NMC cells. Refreshed 2024+ units have moved to LFP in some markets. Mapping is provisional — Fiat specifications vary between EU production batches.
