Charging curve

Maximum power the Model Y accepts at each state of charge. The curve drops sharply above 80%, which is why most rapid-charging sessions end there.

About this battery

The Tesla Model Y's charging behaviour above is derived from its cell chemistry and pack architecture using our own model — not copied from a third-party test database. Here's what's inside the pack and why it produces the curve you see.

UK-spec Model Y Premium AWD ("Juniper" refresh), Berlin-built, on LG's 2170 NMC cells (Tesla pack code 5M). Nominal pack voltage is around 357V — a 400V-class architecture, which is what the 400V figure here denotes. Tesla's route-aware pre-conditioning ramps pack temperature ahead of Supercharger arrival, which is why peak DC is reliably hit in the real world. Note the exact cathode ratio is not published by Tesla or LG; the "811" in the chemistry slug is our working assumption, not a confirmed spec.
